CharityWorks Selects Area Non-Profits
to Receive $100,000 in Grant Funding

McLean, VA - CharityWorks is best known in the Washington region as the organization that annually selects a single charitable organization to be the beneficiary of its fundraising efforts. Through its partner selection program, CharityWorks identified the need in the non-profit community for smaller grants. The CharityWorks Membership responded to this need and launched a new Grants Program to address specific projects that require support from $5,000 - $15,000. The Grant Awards winners are a very distinctive and diverse group of area charitable organizations and include: Adoptions Together, Best Friends, Hoop Dreams, Menzfit, Our Military Kids, Northern Virginia Dental Clinic, Rebuilding Together of DC, See Forever Foundation/Maya Angelou Public Charter School, Starlight Starbright Childrens Foundation, and The Seed School.

CharityWorks is a volunteer-driven organization created in 1999 to help break the cycle of poverty in Washington, DC by strengthening local education programs and enabling families to overcome critical health issues. Its mission is to impact organizations creating positive change in the Washington, DC metropolitan area by uniting corporate leaders, donors and volunteers to enable non-profits to transform themselves and the lives they touch. Specifically, CharityWorks selects one area non-profit organization annually that benefits from the CharityWorks fundraising events. The beneficiary partner goes through a highly competitive selection process and gets down-selected from a pool of up to 50 applicants. "The selection process is rigorous but extremely worthwhile", says former partner Lisa Paro of Center City Consortium. "Furthermore, it makes you focus on your core business while at the same time, forces you to sharpen your skills both individually and organizationally", says Lisa.

Since the CharityWorks inception, it has distributed more than $7 million in high impact funding to its annual charity partners that include Center City Consortium, Higher Achievement Program, Heads Up, See Forever, The Fishing School, Everybody Wins!, the Orphan Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity. By combining the contributions of a significant number of donors, CharityWorks has a lasting impact in the community. For many Washington area organizations, a partnership with CharityWorks is the only way to finance a new project or a dream.

They offer lodging in a nurturing environment, help in reuniting families by providing free airline tickets, award scholarships, and provide needed support.
